    De forme globulaire, ornée de huit médaillons à décor de chrysanthèmes et feuilles, alternant avec de fines arabesques feuillagées et lotus, l'ensemble entouré de deux frises de ruyi, marque à six caractères en cachet de l'Empereur Qianlong en bleu sous couverte à la base

    This design originates from the Chenghua prototype, such as the example with chrysanthemums and butterflies, illustrated in Chogoku Toji Zenshu, vol.21, pl.1.
    Compare the present lot with a Qianlong-marked pair of jars in the Tianjin Art Museum, included in the exhibition of Chinese Treasures of 5000 Years, Japan 1985, and illustrated in the Catalogue, no.46; see also a single jar and cover in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, illustrated in Liu Liang-yu, Ch'ing Official and Popular Wares - A Survey of Chinese Ceramics, vol.5, p.183.
