    Vêtu d'une longue robe souple laissant son épaule droite nue, portant des bottes, paré d'un double collier de perles, le visage souriant, le crâne rasé, représenté debout sur une base, la jambe droite relevée et posée sur une chaise, son bras gauche appuyé sur le dossier, la main droite caressant un chien, ce dernier jouant avec un second chien caché sous l'assise ; gerces

    The Luohans are also known as Arhats, 'Destroyers of the passions', or 'Worthiness'. They are Buddha's apostles, probably originated in Kashmir. They were first mentioned as sixteen Arhats in the Mahayanavataraka, which was translated into Chinese in AD 437.
