    Edo period (18th century)
    The armor lacquered black and laced in blue with the lowest lame of each component lacquered gold with an ishime finish and decorated with gamboling Chinese lions or scrolling vines in black lacquer, the armor comprising; a fifty-six plate russet-iron hoshi-bachi with a four-stage gilt-copper and shakudo tehen kanamono the lowest stage pierce-carved with chrysnathemum scroll, mounted with four strips of shino-dare in gilt-copper and shakudo, the mabi-sashi finished with gilt-copper fukurin carved with scrolling vines, the four-lame neck guard ending in black-lacquer fuki-gaeshi applied with gilt-copper heraldic crests of the Takenaka clan and fukurin, gilt-copper kuwagata-dai pierce-carved with chrysanthemum scroll, a Buddhist ken mae-date and gold-lacquered leather kuwagata; the face mask russet-lacquer and applied with a boar-bristle moustache and chin tuft and fitted with a five-lame throat guard; the ni-mai tosei do with gyoyo applied with heraldic crests in shakudo, gilt-copper hardware pierce-carved with chrysanthemum scroll, the do fitted with seven sections of five-lame black-lacquer ishime-ji tassets; chu-sode; the tsutsu-gote sleeves constructed of close-fitting plates on the forearm and upper arm lacquered gold and black with scrolling vines, the connecting areas chain-mail and a gilt-metal Buddhist wheel plate on the elbow the hand plate lacquered black ishime applied with a heraldic crest; kawara-haidate; black-lacquer ishime-ji tsu-tsu suneate; two wood storage boxes with leather covers; no armor stand
