    A FINE CASED 54-BORE TRANTER BEAUMONT-ADAMS PATENT PERCUSSION FIVE-SHOT DOUBLE-ACTION SINGE-TRIGGER REVOLVER RETAILED BY EDWARD WHISTLER, 11, STRAND, TRAFALGAR SQUARE, LONDON

    With Tranter patent screw-in barrel fitted with Kerr's rammer, the top-strap inscribed 'Whistler London', Tranter modified Beaumont-Adams two-screw action, the frame struck with both 'HH' mark and oval 'W. Tranter's patent' mark on the left, engraved 'Adams.&.Tranter's.Patent.No.17,296.T.' on the right, the cylinder arbor pin retained by a horizontal sprung lever, with sliding safety-catch, chequered walnut butt with case-hardened cap, and retaining nearly all of its original blued finish throughout, London proof marks: in its original lined and fitted oak case, the lid with retailer's large trade label, and with some accessories including original Tranter's patent bullet mould.

    William Tranter together with the London Armoury Company and 'another' (possibly James Kerr), co-purchased the Adams' master patent in 1863.
