    Edo period (19th century), Katana signed Kozuke [no] Kuni Hasebe Yoshishige and dated Ansei yonnen hachigatsu kichijutsu (An auspicious day in the eighth month of 1857), Wakizashi signed Sayoshi Takamura Masaaki and dated Ka'ei rokunen nigatsu (a day in the second month of 1852)
    Both blades with close itame hada and hamon of gunome choji, the katana koshirae of laterally ribbed black lacquer with metal fittings of shakudo, the menuki of radishes in shakudo with gold inlay and the tanto also with a matching ribbed and black-lacquered scabbard

    Katana nagasa [length of blade]: 73cm
    Tanto habaki [collar]: single copper
    Tanto nagasa [length of blade]: 24.7cm

    The katana accompanied by a certificate of registration as a Tokubetsu hozon token (Sword especially worthy of preservation) no. 100959 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword), dated 1986.2.28

    The tanto accompanied by a certificate of registration as a Hozon token (Sword worthy of preservation) no. 305767 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword), dated 1986.2.21 (2)
