    Edo period (18th century), the cuirass signed Masaie
    The suit lacquered black and laced in blue and trimmed in orange and green and comprising a sixty-two plate suji-bachi lacquered black with a four-stage lotus-flower tehen kanamono, the bowl fitted with a three-lame neck guard with large turnbacks applied with doe skin, the forecrest a gold-lacquer disc and flames flames in red lacquer, gilt-metal kuwagata, the face mask applied with an animal-hair moustache and fitted with a four-lame solid-plate throat guard; the cuirass a five-plate solid yuki-no-shita do fitted with seven sections of five-lame tassets; chu-sode; shino-gote sleeves with the hand plates lacquered red; tsutsu suneate and shino haidate; boar-fur boots; with additional shino suneate lacquered gold and mottled black-lacquer kogake foot guards; one wood box; no armor stand
