    AN UNUSUAL ROCOCO HUNTING-SWORD, RUSSIAN OR GERMAN
    MID-18TH CENTURY
    With broad recurved blade formed in the manner of an Ottoman Yataghan blade, decorated with etched and gilt motifs including a Turk's profile head and celestial subjects, gilt-brass hilt boldly cast in high relief, including loop-guard incorporating an eagle on the leading face, its head forming the forward quillon, eagle's head pommel, all on a ground of rococo scrollwork, and the hilt retaining most of its original gilding (knuckle-chain expertly replaced)
