    White-laced suit of armor with a hara-maki do
    Edo period (18th century)
    Scales lacquered black, laced in white with orange on the lowest lames of each component and comprising a russet-iron twenty-plate o-hoshi bachi with large standing rivets and gilt-copper shino-dare running down the front and rear with a decorative ring on the rear plate, and a four-stage gilt-copper chrysanthemum tehen kanamono, the mabi-sashi and fukigaeshi applied with stencilled doe skin and lined with fukurin, the gilt-copper kuwagata-dai pierce-carved with scrolling vines and chrysanthemums, gilt-copper kuwagata, the helmet fitted with a three-lame neckguard; russet-iron face mask with a boar-bristle moustache and chin tuft and fitted with a two-lame throat guard with applied doe skin on the top lame; two-lame nodawa; the do a hara-maki with a sei-no-ita plate that covers the opening at the back, fitted with seven sections of five-lame tassets, gilt-copper hardware pierce-carved to match the hardware of the helmet; chu-sode with stencilled doe skin on the kanmuri-no-ita and trimmed in fukurin; shino-gote of russet-lacquer plates on green fabric sleeves; kawara-haidate and black-lacquer tsutsu suneate; two wood storage boxes and no armor stand
