    Arabic manuscript on paper, above a line of bold naskh, the main register with 3ll. of black naskh, below a panel of 13ll. on diagonal, alternately in thin black and bold gold naskh, within black and gold rules, laid down on card with gold speckled margins, six bands of blue paper with a line of black naskh, within gold frame and polychrome rules, creasing, date possibly added

    Dust Muhammad was a famous scribe, painter and illuminator of Shah Tahmasp's period who worked in the Royal Library. In 1544, he compiled the famous album of calligraphy and painting for the Safavid prince Bahram Mirza album now in the Topkapi. His recorded works are dated between AH 938/1531-2 AD and AH 972/1564-5 AD making this calligraphic panel the earliest recorded.
