    4° (320 x 250mm). Frontispiece printed in colour and 40 plates. (Occasional light scattered spotting.) Original cream wrappers with yapp edges printed in red and black (wear to extremities, tears to the spine, some soiling and a few faint damp-stains).

    FIRST EDITION OF THE FIRST SURVEY OF AL'TMAN'S WORK. ONE OF 450 COPIES ONLY from an edition of 500, this one number 183. Among his many achievements Al'tman was responsible for the first sketches of the Soviet flag, postage stamps, seals and other state emblems, and he was one of very few artists permitted to paint Lenin from life.
