    [AMERICAN MILITARY HISTORY]. [LOUISBOURG]. WARREN, Peter, Admiral, the Herof of Louisbourg. LS TO ADMIRAL GEORGE ANSON, Louisbourg, 23 November 1745. 6¼ pages, folio, closely written in a clear hand. In a confidential communique, Warren describes the post at Louisbourg, his difficulties in garrisoning it and appeals for aid to assure it will not be retaken by the French, praising General Pepperell and criticizing the Massachusetts legislature and Governor Shirley for its lackluster support (see notes to preceding lot). -- SCHUYLER, Peter. ADS, November, 1700. 1 page, folio, dampstains. Legal content, regarding reimbursement for seizure of gunpowder in 1690. -- WILLETT, Marinus. ALS to Governor George Clinton, Goshen, 23 December 1780. 2 pages, small 4to. Appealing on behalf of an elderly loyalist, that he be allowed to journey to British-held Long Island. -- FONDA, Jelles. ALS to an unknown correspondent, Montgomery County, Palatine Dist., 6 June 1785. 3 pages, folio, boldly penned, perhaps a draft.
