The formidably intelligent Anne of France (also known as Anne of Beaujeu) was the daughter of Louis XI and his second wife Charlotte of Savoy. She was co-regent of France with her husband Peter II, Duke of Bourbon during the minority of her younger brother, Charles VIII from 1483 to 1491. During this period the Duke of Milan was Gian Galeazzo Sforza, although the real power was held by his uncle and successor, Ludovico 'Il Moro'.
