Original chromolithographed wrappers, spines reinforced with tape as issued (extremities lightly rubbed, two parts with light scattered spotting on the sides, spine of one part nearly split).
FIRST EDITIONS. A complete set of the 6 publications in this series. Tales illustrated by Bilibin count among the most famous children's books both in and out of Russia. Bilibin, one of Russia's most influential illustrators, first came to prominence when some of these illustrations were shown in the Mir Iskusstva exhibition. The set comprises: Skazka ob Ivane Tsareviche, Zhar Ptitse, i o Serom Volke, Tsarevia-Liagushka, Vasilisa Prekrasnaia, Peryshko Finista Iasna-Sokola, Maria Morevna, and Sestritsa Alenushka i Bratets Ivanushka; Belaia Utochka. Together with a sheet of 12 stamps after Bilibin issued by the Soviet postal service c.1984. (7)
