Large Vérard device, full-page anatomical man, 16 large metalcuts, 31 small portrait metalcuts and multiple-piece metalcut borders to each page, ILLUMINATED IN GOLD AND COLORS BY A CONTEMPORARY HAND. Liquid-gold initials, paragraph marks and line-fillers painted on red and blue grounds in a contemporary hand, ruled in red. (pale stain on c8, g2 with marginal repair joust touching border, marginal repair on b8.) Late 16th/early 17th-century olive morocco gilt, roll-tooled borders, smooth spine gilt (rebacked preserving original spine); cloth folding case. Provenance: 8-page manuscript prayers in French, black and red textura hand.
