ISABELLA CLARA EUGENIA (1566-1633), Infanta of Spain is here celebrated in this description of the elaborate mausoleum erected in her memory after her death in 1633. She was, together with her husband Albert VIII, Archduke of Austria, joint sovereign of the Spanish Netherlands. Their patronage of such artists as Peter Paul Rubens, Pieter Breughel the Younger, Coebergher, the De Nole family, the Van Veens and many others ushered in the golden age in the Southern Netherlands. Antoine Sallaert (ca 1590 - 1660) was a well-known painter and engraver and also a designer of tapestries, who was deeply influenced by Rubens. Berlin 3163; Ruggieri 1075 bis.
