Original composite binding consisting of brown half morocco for the spine and front cover and dark purple "full seal russia" for the rear cover, the pastedowns exhibiting available styles and materials: front pastedown with calf and morocco spine samples, the rear pastedown with cloth front cover and spine (some light rubbing, lacking rear endpaper).

    THE RARE SALESMAN'S PROSPECTUS FOR THE FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, comprising of half-title, title, Contents, List of illustrations, Preface, selections from the text, representative illustrations by Dan Beard, publisher's advertisement, and the three binding samples (backstrips: morocco and calf with morocco labels, pictorial cloth cover and spine) mounted on inside covers, the front endpaper is the marbled paper used with the leather bindings for the book.
