    2 volumes, 12o (176 x 102 mm). (Top 1/2-in excised from the first blank in each volume, lightly browned.) Contemporary American marbled sheep in contrasting bands of salmon, brown and tan, border of intertwining gilt wave rolls surrounding blind frond and pillar roll, spines gilt-ruled in three compartments, black morocco gilt-lettered label in one, the others elaborately decorated with gilt frond and pillar roll surrounding flower, leaf, tendril and circle tools, board-edges cross-hatched (slightly scuffed particularly at the head of the spine of volume one); modern quarter red morocco gilt slipcase. Provenance: H.R.W. (initials); James Fenimore Cooper (bookplates).
