Original purple muslin, printed paper labels on the spines (volume two covers nearly detached, spines a bit faded, labels chipped, one or two stains); modern quarter red morocco gilt slipcase. Provenance: Paul Fenimore Cooper (initials); Mrs. Fenimore Cooper (signature and inscription); Fenimore Cooper (signatures); annotations and corrections in the text in a near-contemporary hand.
