A WAR-DATE AUTOGRAPH LETTER, THREE WEEKS BEFORE SUMTER, TO A RESIDENT OF A FOREIGN COUNTRY--THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. A fine example of an early, war-date autograph letter from the new Confederate capital at Montgomery: "Yours duly received and I have the honor to be, very respectfully yours..." Interestingly, the accompanying envelope is addressed to Parry at "Burlington, New Jersey, United States." As of February 1861, Montgomery, Alabama and Burlington, New Jersey were located in separate countries.
