SO MUCH TO DO. The political uncertainty seems to be diminishing, now that, late in the game, everyone is starting to pull themselves together ('weil sich alle aufzuraffen beginnen. Spät!). Mileva's house seems to have been saved [from her financial crash in 1936], 'though with substantial sacrifices'; as for Einstein himself, 'Ich habe ungeheuer zu thun, mehr als meinen 60 Jahren gemäss ist, vieles davon infolge der politischen Verhältnisse und der Notwendigkeit zu helfen [I have a huge amount to do, more than I should at 60, much of it as a consequence of the political conditions and to help cases of necessity]'. He is pleased to hear from Eduard of his good health. He had hoped to visit Hans Albert, though he doesn't know if it will be possible: he and Frieda had sent a very funny poem for Einstein's 60th birthday, which had delighted him.
