Broadsheet 2° (555 x 370mm). Tinted lithographic title and 26 plates by J.B. Pyne after Hering (one by and printed by R. Fairland), including one (untinted) calligraphic dedication leaf not called for in Abbey but often present, letterpress explanation of plates leaf loosely inserted. Subscription prospectus tipped in. (Light or marginal spotting, heavier in about 5 plates.) Publisher's red straight-grained roan-backed green cloth boards, lettered in gilt on upper cover and spine, yellow endpapers.

The views illustrate Hering's tour to Hungary and Transylvania in 1835, countries then little known to the English. It is dedicated to Count Szenchenyi, the leading Hungarian light of his day. Thirty plates were envisaged, at a subscriber's cost of 4 gns., but 27 plates are the complete complement. Abbey Travel, 79 (coloured copy).
