    INCUNABULA -- CLEMENS V (Pope, d. 1314). Constitutiones, with commentary by Johannes Andreae. -JOHANNES XXII. Constitucio execrabilis. [Strassburg: Heinrich Eggestein, about 1470]. Royal 2° (370 x 269mm). With first blank leaf, gothic type, double column, commentary surround, rubricated. (Small wormholes, a few minor repaired tears.) Modern binding using 2 vellum leaves from a Bohemian manuscript, c. 1400, with music on staves and illuminated initial (rubbed). Provenance: early annotations, later headlines -- Gavelentz-Poschwitz (modern bookplate).

    ?Third edition of the Clementines; these decretals came to form the last part of the Corpus juris canonici. Traditionally considered to have pre-dated Eggestein's 1471 edition, the present edition is also dated to c1472, making it the fifth. HC(Add) *5407; GW 7079; BMC I, 67; BSB-Ink C-429; Goff C-712.
