    5 volumes, 2o (501 x 332 mm). 390 engraved double-page maps FINELY COLORED BY A CONTEMPOORARY HAND, titles heightened with gold. Publisher's vellum gilt, gilt edges (volumes II and III rebacked with vellum, others with some wear to spines or spine ends). Provenance: Jesuit Society ("Domus Aquensis Societatis Jesu" bookplate). Sold not subject to return.

    Volume I: [Atlas novus, sive theatrum orbis terrarum: In quo Germaniae superioris... Amsterdam, ca. 1656.] 2 parts in one. Second title with printed slip pasted in at center as issued, 96 hand-colored engraved double-page maps. (Lacks first title, 5 maps with tears and chipping along fold, map 69 with a colored map from a smaller copy pasted over an uncolored map, some other short tears, some browning and staining.) The collation corresponds with Koeman Me 57.

    Volume II: Atlas novus, sive theatrum orbis terrarum: In quo Galliae, Helvetiae... Amsterdam, ca. 1658. 2 parts in one. Titles with printed slip pasted in at center as issued, 102 hand-colored engraved double-page maps. (7 maps with tears and chipping along fold, some other short tears, some browning and staining.) Koeman Me 67.

    Volume III: [Atlas novus, sive theatrum orbis terrarum: In quo Hispaniae, Italiae, Asiae, Africae, nec-non Americae... Amsterdam, ca.1658.] 2 parts in one. Second title with printed slip pasted in at center as issued, 103 hand-colored engraved double-page maps. (Lacks first title, 13 maps with tears and chipping along fold in first part, some other short tears, some browning and staining.) The hand-colored maps of the Americas in good condition. The collation corresponds with Koeman Me 59.

    Volume IV: Novus atlas, sive theatrum orbis terrarum: In quo Magna Britannia, seu Angliae & Scotiae... Tomus quartus. Amsterdam, 1646. Engraved hand-colored title, 56 hand-colored engraved double-page maps. (A few maps with clean tear along fold, some browning and staining.) (Some wear to spine.) Koeman Me 152.

    Volume V: Atlantis majoris quinta pars, orbem maritimum seu omnium marium totius orbis terrarum navigationibus hodierno tempore frequentatorum descriptionem accuratissimam continens... Amsterdam, 1650. Engraved hand-colored title, 33 hand-colored engraved double-page maps. (7 maps with tears and chipping along fold, some browning and staining.) "The first sea atlas (in the real sense of the word)" Koeman Me 154.

    2o (501 x 330 mm). 52 (of 53, lacking "Britannia proud divisa") engraved double-page maps all COLORED BY A CONTEMPORARY HAND (some browning and staining, some maps with tears and minor chipping along folds, dampstaining to lower margin). Contemporary Dutch vellum gilt (parts of backstrip vanished, corners worn). Provenance: Jesuit Society ("Domus Aquensis Societatis Jesu" bookplate).

    "The Accuratissima orbis antiqui delineatio was first published by Joannes Janssonius in Amsterdam in 1652. This preliminary edition did not yet contain the text written by Georg Hornius. In 1653, the first edition with the text by Hornius appeared" (see Koeman Ja 2). (6)
