Collation: a-b10 c-f6 g8 h-i6 k8 l6 m8 I10 (a1 blank, a2 Calderino's address to Guliano de Medici, a3v life of Juvenal, a4r text with commentary surround, m8v colophon, I1r Defensio adversus Brotheum. 95 leaves (of 96, without first blank). 52-54 lines of commentary. 2- to 7-line initial spaces, most with guide-letter. Type: 1:95R, 2:80R, Greek. (Marginal paper flaw in first leaf, lower margin of last leaf partly cut away, some lower corners frayed, stain in a few upper margins.) 18th-century English red morocco gilt by Christopher Chapman, pointill© lozenge and wide border on sides, gilt spine, marbled endpapers (a little wear at spine and corners). Provenance: contemporary annotations, extensive interlinear translation and notes in Satire 10; some 16th-century annotations -- [Robert/Edward Harley, 1st and 2nd Earls of Oxford (binding)] -- J. Hewett, 1760 (flyleaf inscription) -- Francis Ferrand Foljambe (stamp).
