Mezzotint frontispiece portrait by Isaac Beckett after the author (frontispiece with skilfully repaired tear and lower inner corner torn away, affecting 3 letters, lightly browned throughout, a few small stains). Contemporary diced calf (front joint and head and tail of spine restored). Provenance: Frances Mary Richardson Currer (bookplate) -- old manuscript inscription on bottom of title, old manuscript corrections on G1 recto.
