This book describes triumphal entry into Lyons of LOUIS XIII, King of France (1601-1643), and ANNA OF AUSTRIA, Spanish Infanta (1601-1666). The theme of the decorations for the entry was the comparison of the king to the sun. As the sun, the lord of the planets, travels through the realm of the zodiac, so to the king visits the various cities of his kingdom (here Lyon), protected by the sign of Leo. Interestingly, this comparison to the sun would later become amplified and forever associated with his son Louis XIV, the Sun King. The second work has the second state title-page dated 1623 (Watanabe lists an earlier state dated 1622). It describes his reception at the Jesuit College followed by wonderful firework displays depicted in some of the engravings.
