Engraved portrait frontispiece by W. Dolle. (Occasional very light browning, small marginal chip to B7, C7 and E7 in the first work, small marginal chip to D8 in the second work, just touching catchword.) Contemporary panelled calf, gilt spine with red morocco gilt lettering-piece (extremities lightly rubbed, joints just starting to crack, head- and tailcaps lightly worn). Provenance: H. Wigley (inscription dated April 26th 1791).

    Third edition of Paradise Lost 'revised and augmented by the same author.' Milton's final publication was the 1674 second edition of Paradise Lost, reorganized into 12 books 'so making explicit the parallel with the epics of classical antiquity' (ODNB).
