London: Longman [etc.], 1818. 4° (308 x 237mm). 2 engraved maps (1 double-page), 17 plates: 2 line engravings (1 double-page), 15 aquatints (4 hand-coloured, 2 folding, 1 double-page), by Henry Alken, T. Fielding and others after Morier. (Spotting and browning to one plate, slight staining to N3, appendix leaves creased at lower corners, lacks half-title.) Contemporary half calf and spot-marbled boards (joints cracked, rubbed). PRESENTATION COPY (with tipped in one-page letter from the author to 'Dear ?Mr William', dated 20 May 1819, reading: 'Pray accept my grateful thanks for your very valuable book, and permit me to request you accept of my second tale:- I have not got a new copy by me, but to you who do not nicely look at a book, that can ... work no difficulty'.
