    FIRST EDITION. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY NABOKOV WITH A BUTTERFLY DRAWING on the front flyleaf in Russian beneath a pencil drawing of a butterfly, and above a small sketch of a flower. Sonia Slonim, Véra Nabokov's sister, emigrated to New York by 1942 and became a simultaneous translator for the United Nations. The Nabokovs visited Sonia and her cousin Anna (see lot 97) numerous times when they visited New York between 1943 and 1959. Juliar A17.1.
