The recipient of this copy was Rosemary Canter, agent for Thomas Taylor, the cover artist of the published work. The 'ideal dinner' was one held the evening before the opening of the 1998 Cheltenham Book Festival, at which J. K. Rowling appeared at the invitation of Rosemary Canter, who was Director of the Children's Section. Included in the lot is a 3-page signed autograph letter from Rosemary Canter in which she recalls their dinner, Rowling's appearance at the festival and the signing of the proof copy, and also gives her impressions of the author.
