Tsvetnik Izbrannykh Stikhotvorenii v polzu i udovol'stvie iunosheskago vozrasta. [A flower garden of selected verse for the benefit and pleasure of youth]. Moscow: University Press, 1816.

2 parts in 1 vol., 8° (195 x 119mm). (Two leaves lacking, occasional spotting, light stain to top half of first few leaves.) Nineteenth-century quarter-calf and cloth boards, blind-stamped sides, gilt spine (spine and hinges repaired, gilt flaking, extremities rubbed). Provenance: Nineteenth-century inscriptions, some erased -- K.A. Shimkevich (bookplate) -- shelf-marks and twentieth-century stamps.

FIRST EDITION. Compiled by 'P.P.', presumably inspired by the Karamzin quotation on the title pages: 'Poetry is the flower garden of sentimental hearts'. Contains poems by Derzhavin, Kheraskov, and Batiushkov among many others, including the latter's Plennyi of 1813-1814, in which Batiushkov records his impressions of the war against Napoleon. RARE: WorldCat records only one copy in North America, at Harvard. Kilgour 1218.
