    3 vols, 8° (256 x 170mm). 6 plates and 2 portraits. (Marginal browning, occasional spotting, some marginal dampstains.) Later blue half-cloth, original wrappers bound-in (rubbed, lacking most of the front wrapper of vol. 1, the others with some spotting and some wear). Provenance: Nikolai Figner (inscription from the author) -- Boris Voinarskii (stamps, binding) -- Aleksandr Sarandinaki (bookplate).

    FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR TO NIKOLAI FIGNER (1957-1918), the renowned lead tenor at the Mariinskii Theatre for two decades; later in the collection of Aleksandr Sarandinaki.
