Of Knibb Phase III design, the case with typical faceted and foliate-tied handle to cushion-moulded top applied with foliate mounts to front and sides, glazed side panels, with later fret to the front door top rail, Knibb type gilt-metal mask and scroll escutcheons (right mount probably replaced), on stepped and moulded plinth, the 15.7 cm. (6¼ in.) square gilt-brass dial signed along the lower edge Joseph Knibb London, with winged cherub mask spandrels to silvered chapter ring with trident half hour markers, finely matted centre and well-sculpted blued steel hands (repaired), strike/silent lever above XII, the eight day movement secured to the case with turn catches and with later securing bolts through the lower pillars, the plates resting on steel brackets, fully latched and with five ringed vase-shaped pillars, twin gut fusees, verge escapement (with restorations), internal rack hour strike on bell and pull quarter repeat on further smaller bell, repeating to both sides via a pair of re-instated integral brass wheel runners set into the case sides, the back plate with scored line border and tulip engraving around a signature Joseph Knibb Londini fecit; with early pierced and engraved winding key, case key
