    The hood surmounted by giltwood figural finials, the brass dial with aperture to the arch showing ships and mermaids rocking against a town view of Amsterdam, foliate spandrels to silvered and arcaded chapter ring signed A. VAN DER NAATEN, AMSTELDAM, matted centre with ringed winding holes, subsidiary seconds ring with date aperture, sectors for month and day of week above painted moonphase, eight day four pillar movement with anchor escapement, alarm work mounted to the side, Dutch strike and alarm on two bells above; pendulum, two weights, door key, crank key

    Abraham van der Naaten (1728?-1791) is recorded having his workshop at De Waal near the Oude Schans. From 1768 onwards Abraham worked together with his son Et under the name of Abraham van der Naaten & Zoon.
