    Johannes Petrus Logge, Amsterdam. Second quarter 18th Century
    The caddy-topped hood with fretwork panels and surmounted by Atlas and angels finials, the trunk door with chevron inlays and cast brass lenticle modelled with a figure of Chronos and a fruit basket, above plinth with projecting scroll angles, the 34 cm. wide (14 in.) brass dial with foliate spandrels to silvered and arcaded chapter ring to Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed Johannes Petrus Logge/AMSTELDAM, the matted centre engraved with leafy sprigs, with apertures for moonphase (showing its age above 60) and day of week with painted figural representations, ringed winding holes, date aperture, the blued steel hands centred by an alarm disc, the arch with painted scene of a lady on a swing being pulled to and fro by two gentlemen, moving with the escapement, the eight day movement with four pillars, anchor escapement and Dutch rack strike and alarm on two bells; four brass weights, pendulum, door key

    Johan Logge is recorded in the Botermarkt in Amsterdam in 1742. A clock by him with automaton ships was sold Christie's New York, Fine Clocks, Scientific Instruments, Watches and Wristwatches, 27 October 1988, lot 86.
