    A EUROPEAN WROUGHT-IRON THREE-TRAIN QUARTER STRIKING TURRET CLOCK
    PROBABLY GERMAN, SECOND HALF 17TH CENTURY
    With wedged iron frame, the angles decorated with small finials, the three trains with wood barrels (each appr. 20 cm. long), four spoked wheelwork, anchor escapement (possibly originally with verge and foliot), hour and quarter striking on counthweel
    The frame circa 80 cm. high x 115 cm. wide x 65 cm. deep
    On a modern stainless steel plinth base -12 cm. high x 122 cm. wide x 70 cm. deep

    This turret clock has an early style frame which could indicate a pre-pendulum start, next to this, one side does have a potance which could fit a pivot and a bracket with a vacant hole above, which could accomodate the arbor of an original foliot escapement
