    Paulus Schuster, Nuremberg. Dated 1599
    The case with pierced ball finial above a pierced and engraved cupola, with spike finials to angles, the detachable side panels engraved with stylised trees and with columnar angles, on spreading plinth decorated with foliate repoussé decoration and raised on winged cherub mask feet, the inside plate punch-signed PAUL SCHUSTER MACHT ZV NORIBERG 1599, the foliate engraved dial engraved with out I-XII ring and corresponding inner 13-24 ring, with touch pieces, short blued steel hand, the conforming strike dial to the rear calibrated 1-12, also with touch pieces and with matching blued steel hand, the all steel short duration movement of posted frame construction, the twin back-to-back trains with fixed barrels, three spoke wheelwork, stackfreed and verge escapement, with countwheel strike on bell above

    Paulus Schuster is described as a 'kleinuhrmacher' and was recorded as a Master in 1587. He died in 1637.
