    Surmounted by a flower-filled urn, above the case with floral-painted and jewelled enamelled dial signed signed 'Hri Houdebine/Ft des Bronzes', supported on a fluted column fronted by a relief cast plaque depicting Cupid, flanked to each side by a classically robed nymph, the shaped base richly mounted with a cartouche to the front and urn-topped corbels to the sides, the movement with retailer's inscription for 'Camerer Cuss & Co'

    Established in 1845 by Henri Houdebine, the Parisian bronzier Houdebine et Cie produced a wide variety of objects and sculptural works of the highest order. Houdebine participated in the major international exhibitions of the 19th early 20th centuries, showing clocks and garnitures inspired by the major revival styles prevalent at the time.
