    Gouache heightened with gold on paper, Alexander, clad in purple robes and crown kneels on the cushioned throne whilst attended by a number of servants standing around him, in the foreground a band of musicians play, further attendants peer on from the right edge, floral sprays above the blue wall of the terrace on which the scene is set, with four lines of elegant nasta'liq above with gold intercolumnar rules, between grey and gold rules on pink marbled card, mounted on white card, some flaking and wear of paint

    The present miniature and that of the following lot are from the same manuscript as two that were sold in these Rooms, 8 April 2008, lots 129 and 130. They appear to come from a late fourteenth century or early fifteenth century copy of the Iskandernama of Nizami.
