    Professor Rothlisberger dates the drawing to circa 1635 and compares the separation of successive planes to two other landscapes by Claude in the British Museum (Rothlisberger, op. cit., I, pp. 176-77, nos. 384, 388; II, figs. 384, 388, n.p.).
