    This composition shows Christopher Columbus being received by King Ferdinand II and Queen Isabella after his return to Spain. He undertook three journeys across the Atalantic, between 1492 and 1504.

    Originally part of an album given by the Orléans family in 1846 as a wedding present to Marie-Louise Fernande de Bourbon (Madrid 1832-1897 Sevilla), duchesse de Montpensier;
    Her daughter Isabelle d'Orléans;
    Amélie, Queen of Portugal, and by descent to the Comte and Comtesse de Paris.
