    A stool with similar shallow relief scrolled foliage carving on the seat-rails is illustrated in V. Chinnery, Oak Furniture: The British Tradition, Woodbridge, 1979, p. 189, fig. 2:215. Fig. 2:214 in Chinnery shows a stool with the same H-stretcher as the present stool.
