This table is a copy of the work table made by Jean-Henri Riesener, circa 1785, said to be owned by Queen Marie-Antoinette, now in the Louvre.

Though apparently unsigned, this celebrated model is known to have been manufactured most notably by Henry Dasson during the last quarter of the 19th century. Comparable examples by the ébéniste dated 1882, 1877 and 1878, respectively, were sold from the Collection of Lily & Edmond J. Safra; Sotheby's, New York, 4 November 2005, Christie's, Paris, 8 November 2005, lot 322 and Christie's, New York, 25 October 2007, lot 441.
