This popular model, originally conceived around 1887 with mounts designed by Léon Messagé, was also produced in marquetry and double-door versions in the 20th century. Christopher Payne cites that index number 204 first appeared in Linke's daybooks bearing the title bahut simple Crieger and notes that Linke frequently misspelled the famous retailer's name.

Another example of index number 204 with a vernis Martin panelled door sold Christie's London, 28 September 2006 (£9,600).
