    Several examples of the same pattern of commode were often intended for bedroom apartments, with one commode placed in each of the apartment's rooms. The pair of sycamore chests supplied to John, 4th Earl Poulett for Hinton House, Somerset and recently sold by Giorgo Marsan and Umberta Nasi, Christie's, London, 12-13 December 2007, lot 99 (£162,500) are examples of this arrangement.
