    Each with medallion back, padded arms and seat covered in crimson red silk-velvet, the chanelled frame carved with rope-twist and guilloche, with foliate-wrapped and conformingly-carved arm supports, on stop-fluted turned tapering legs terminating in toupie feet, one stamped 'J. NADAL LAINE'

    A related pair of grey-painted fauteuils a dossier medallion are in the Musée Carnavalet, Paris (ill. A. Forray-Carlier, Le Mobilier du Musée Carnavalet, Dijon, 2000, pp. 194-5). A further related suite of six fauteuils by Nadal was sold anonymously, Christie's, Monaco, 10 December 2000, lot 686.
