    Nicolas-Denis Delaisement, maître in 1776.

Clearly influenced by his celebrated confrère Georges Jacob, the oeuvre of Delaisement is also typified by its beautiful crafstmanship, elegant proportions and delicate carved motifs, mainly in the refined Louis XVI style of the 1780s. Still active in the rue de Cléry in 1792, he also executed some mahogany pieces which are similar to those by Jean-Baptiste Demay.

A suite of three virtually identical chairs stamped Delaisement, covered in Beauvais tapestry and with ribbon-tied cresting and spirally-turned legs were previously in the Rosebery/Rothschild Collection at Mentmore Towers, Buckinghamshire, sold Sotheby's house sale, 18 May 1977, lot 11.
