The double-banded and rosette centred drawers and serpentine bombe form are features found on several Neopolitan commodes, such as one illustrated in A. P. Murano, Il Mobile Napoletano del Settecento, Naples, 1977, plate XXIb. Another, similar, Neapolitan example in the Museo Correale di Terranova, Sorrento, is illustrated in E. Baccheschi, Mobili Italiani del Meridione, Milan, 1966, p. 81. A further example was offered anonymously, Sotheby's, London, 13 December 1991, lot 132. One with similar upper drawer arrangement was sold from the Property of the late Sir Lennox Berkeley, C.B.E., Christie's, London, 14 June 1990, lot 133 (£17,600).
