    Now framed as a panel to be hung, depicting St George slaying the dragon and flanked by knights in armour, with rabbits below, the position of the lock now filled with a coat of arms, the frame with gilt lettering, a memorial to those who fell in the First World War

    This carved panel may be considered with other chests and panels with carved fronts also depicting St George and the dragon which are to be found in York Minster, Ypres Cathedral and The Gruuthuse Museum, Bruges and are well-documented. A chair in Majorca with very similar detail in the carving is illustrated in J.C.Rubira Spanish period furniture designs, New York, 1984
