    A late 19th century Neo-Renaissance gold, diamond gem and enamel pendant/clip
    Modelled as the "pelican in her piety", the pelican set with a central cabochon ruby, the body with white enamel detail mounted within a horseshoe shaped frame with table-cut diamond and foiled ruby single stone flowerheads with enamel petals, the base set in the centre with a single foiled cabochon sapphire surrounded by enamel foliate detail suspending three pearl drops, circa 1880, late mounted as a clip

V & A catalogue "Princely Magnificence" London, 1980, G. 35, also "Renaissance Jewellery", Yvonne Hackenbroch, Cambridge, 1979, p. 201, no. 562 for a pendant of similar design with attributed date 1600-1610 and Christie's London, catalogue December, 2007, lot 11. for similar 19th century pendant
